So, I was researching this bichir and I keep coming across conflicting information about it's adult size. Some sources say they get up to 10"-11" while others way 32"+ with the largest I read at 35". Which is it?
Large 30in plus are out there. Caught as large specimens. Usually in Asia. 33in was posted on mfk years ago. A 35in was mentioned as well and probably true.
Tank Raised/Captive Bred Ansorgii are hybridized with Endli. Therefore, maximum growth should be similar to a CB Endli.
Wild Caught Ansorgii are slow growers. It’s best to get them at larger sizes if possible. Most 26”-35” specimens would be in Asia as Kno4te mentioned. Attached below is a 80cm+ (32”+) in Singapore. It’s a bit battered from lengthy trip from exporter.
