One of the most common problems with keeping large, carnivorous fish is the presence of the disgusting little buggers. I recently had a relentless colony in my tank and nothing I tried got rid of them. Until someone told me to use straight tap water during my next water change.
So if anyone else is having trouble getting rid of these things here's what I did:
1. Removed 20% of water from my tank (standard weekly for me) - extracted from substrate
2. Refilled half of that with straight tapwater, then waited about 30-40mins
3. Topped off the tank with appropriate concentration of water ager and added some stress-coat to be safe.
After 2 water changes the VAST MAJORITY of those worms were gone. Some still remain but they are at a more acceptable level.
