Just that they aren't exactly a common pike, not rare, but not common. Waldo has some that you can have imported...assuming you are gettin them from him or a local breeder. They are a Saxatilis pike, are stunnin as adults, and just awesome. Treat them as you would other Saxatilis pikes. 75gal min. for best colors and attitude, def. if you have a pair. Feed them meaty foods, keep the water quality top notch! ;)
 
is there a pike that he could have said, that you would have said "meh... pretty crappy pike, don't look that good neither"

Thanks PP I am looking forward to the arrival of my new pikes:D and yes I am importing them from Waldo. They will hopefully arrive at the end of the month. This is my first time dealing with Waldo and I hope all goes well. I have several tanks set up in the basement and the pikes will be divided among a 125g, and two 75g tanks. I will grow them out and keep a hanful of the nicest lookers and sell or trade the rest. I have done several online searches for pictures of these guys and haven't seen any that were very good. I was hoping someone here might have some good pictures of these.
 
How many are you importing? I was gonna import 10...but was gonna move so it wasn't a smart move for me. Pretty sure Waldo can do it right....should have a 90% survival rate...;). Thats good to divide them, just don't spread them too thin. The more pikes in one tank there is, the less aggression on individual pike will experience. Keep them in groups of three at least...with more being better. PVC pipe would be a good idea to invest in as well, pikes love them, they are cheap, and very effective, plus once algae starts growing on them they kinda blend in...haha.

Its very annoying trying to find pictures of certain pikes on the net, cuz only recently people have been putting pictures of them up. The more common species like xingu I, and johanna are all over the net. You can find some rare pike pictures, but its sparingly so. For the most part, there aren't any pictures on the net. Which is why you have to take pictures and put them on once you get them...;)

I'm importing a full box of 12 along with several other fish from peru. I will most likely put half (6) in the 125 and the other half in the 75. I currently have lots of caves and crevices made of rocks and driftwood set up in both tanks, but I will definately slip in a few chunks of PVC as well. I feel the same way about the information and pics that I came across on the web. I am thankful for this forum as I will definately be posting my observations and experiences with these pike, along with as many pics as I can get. BTW any suggestions on a good digital pic for top quality pics of my fish? I currently have a middle of the road digital camera and I'm not so sure it will take very good fish pics.
 
Hey peanut do you think all 12 (I beleive they are coming in at about 4") would be ok in the 125g along with about 6 rotkeil severums a 4-5inch tiger shovelnose and some small plecos?
 
Kodak EasyShare Z700 4.0 megapixel. Got mine from ebay for about $255 shipped....great camera. Love it...if you DO get it, lemme know and i'll hook you up with some pimp settings. DieselMack uses the same camera....we both posted our pictures on this site...just to give you an idea of the quality.

Everything would work out, only prob. would be your TSN. They grow sooo much faster than almost any fish I know of, and are capable of swallowing the unthinkable. Top that off with the fact that pikes are torpedo shaped...makes for a bad combo. Best bet is to keep them seperate from the TSN...or at least keep the pikes a couple of inches larger than the TSN...give them a chance to keep a head for a while at least.
