anti-fungal alder cones

has anyone used alder cones in there spawning tank to prevent fungus? if so, how did it work and how did you use it?

I've never done it, but I seen this video on youtube that shows a guy that used one in his fry tank.

Same question. Different decade. Has anyone gotten a consistently higher fry yield with alder cones, or seen fungus actually eliminated? I'm using them as tannin machines, but am curious if there are any other actual cases of success that could be loosely attributed to the use of these common cones. I just picked and dried a bag, and put 12 into my catfish tank.
