ok, so i have this clown loach, decent sized about 6in now. i have had it for a while (about 2 years now)but never thought about asking about its' curious behaviour. well i know clown loaches are supposed to be schooling fish... no no no not this fella.
when i originally got him i had 2 buddies, roughly the same size with him, and all was glorious... for about 3 months then in a span of 3 days both were dead.
well got some more buddies because, afterall they are schoolers right... no no no not this guy this go around the new buddies didn't last a week.
tried this one last time and same result, well i kept it by itself for a while and it has been as happy as a clown loach could be, barely hides at all.
well recently someone brought in an unwanted clown, about 5-6in, so i thought what the heck we'll try to give my lone clown ( of that tank) one last shot at a buddy...
to no avail as mine chased and beat on his new clown "Buddy" with no mercy, i caught it this go around so i know for sure that it did the killings before. well i moved the new guy into another very social and peaceful school of 7 others and all is fine.

do i just have a renegade clown loach or has anyone else ever experienced this before??? just curious

jast like wolfs in a pac thay will fight for space
your tank is to small for your one in a million loach

Rouge CL...

What size is this tank? It's unlike of the clown loach to act like that. Generally, they are schoolers.

Sounds like he is in mourning of his dead buddies....

well then he's been mourning for well over a year, and he delivered the beatdown so i guess it's just one messed up clown loach

I've never seen that happen, I've been keeping them for 10 years. It's odd.
