Is their any type of antibiotic or healing product that is readily available that can help out my newly imported rays. The transportation was a little long so i think that ammonia may have damaged them.

any insight or help from experts would be great.

they are in dark and increasing the temp to 32-34 degrees celcius. They have been in tank for 3 hours now.breathing is hard still and a couple are swimming a little crazey.

is their any thing that will promote quick healing that i can dump into water with out stressing them any more!!

medications probably not a good idea but maybe somebody knows something safe!!

thanks guys

i believe that good water conditions are the best. maybe a small waterchange and a little bit of salt.

any more meds or anything right off the bat just seems like more stress to me...

this is what i think too.no meds to soon.but is their any type of product that will promote healing if ammonia burns or internal damage occured

water is pristine and i added just 2 lbs of salt to 300 gallon system.so far,
i am scared to increase salinity to quick may just stress out and kill rays quicker.i think i should let them acclimate for a few days before i do a full 3lbs of salt per 100 gallon treatment.do you guys think if i started a salt treatment sooner like today it would be ok,

i think bad idea any input

"but salt promotes healing"

There is nothing you can do for ammonia poison if fish has it. As for ammonia burn on outside of ray just good water and some salt temp is not big deal keep in mid 80's. As for ammonia posion and eratic swimming is sure sign of it just keep them calm, no lights and no stress of any type and hope for best.

I had a ray come in with ammonia burns. Agreeing with everyone else, salt and keeping the water pristine will help the healing. Good luck!

rays are super tough creatures.I am sure they had more than enough exposure to ammonia to poison them. But one is completely calm i think he will start eating soon.

In your guys experience whats the best type of food to get a wild caught rays eating quickest.Black worms are not available in calgary anymore i went on a long hunt yesterday for them.something alive.

these rays were in captivity since last year probably already accustomed to eating frozen and prepaired foods.but i do think live foods would intice a ray to start quicker and i am sure you all agree.

Earthworms. Live shrimp. If you really want to go the live route. But if they're used to frozen/prepared I'm not sure I'd be too concerned if they skip a few days while they recover from the journey.

these are the three rays i am talking about.maybe you understand my concerns and urgency.I had 3 DOA in this shipment but luckly they were all the smaller cheaper rays that died.I dont understand why the all the smaller rays died and the larger ones lived.Fluke i guess

i need them eating asap any ideas from anybody for help with these would be great.

thanks guys

They look pretty fat to me, I think you will be okay. Keep clean water, keep up the salt treatment, turn lights off and I think they will all be fine.

Other what others have said, you may want to add a few more airstones to help with dissolved oxygen content.

Good luck,
