I would like to sell my Antique stainless frame aquarium (36x18x18) .
My problem is that I cannot find any info (after much "googling") as a basis for a reasonable price.
Said tank is in great condition...
Any advice? Thanks in advance :)

I've seen those 50 gal steel-frame tanks selling for $500 on up. Some things to consider before posting an ad:

- is the tank a Metaframe or Top-Fin tank? Metaframes go for more.
- glass-bottom or slate-bottom?
- Does the tank still have the cover and light? Are they in good shape and working?
- Does the tank sit on an original stand?

WOW! Thank you. I would not have thought they commanded such a high price :)
It does have a slate bottom.
I believe the stand is original.
No original cover/light.
The frame looks like Stainless steel ( minor rust) probably easily restored.

More info and photos needed. How old roughly is it? What kind of glass and seals?

Interesting that there is some rust on it. Was it a marine tank?

No marine use. I bought it from my friend (an old timer) approx. 27 years ago. I have had it in continuous operation since. No leaks...

Collectors mainly seek out tanks with the original tops. You could likely get around $400 for the tank and stand if they're not beat up. Collectors will usually buy the odds and ends pieces as they become available. There's likely to be someone with a top/light that's looking for a good tank/stand.
