Got a nice piece of driftwood from my lfs and a bunch of anubias, probably nanas, so here's what has happened in the past hour:

chopped up my anubias into 6 starters, attached 2 to another piece of wood, and the 4 to my new driftwood, probably a peice of mangrove

im interested in doing the same thing with some of my driftwood pieces... and that was a real nice anubias you found
some quesstions:
are those rubberbands you used to anchor them?
how long will it take before the roots are self-secured and dont need to be anchored?
and can you remove the plants and re-ahcnor them if say you are rearranging your tank?... ive been doing that pretty frequently just trying to find something a i really like that works well for my africans... I have a kenyi who literally terrorizes my 55, and if theres too much open room he will stake out more than half the tank as his terrirotry, forcing my other mumbunas, peacocks and haps to pack into the other side

thanks stewnew, got that bunch for about $12 over here.

i have used rubberbands before on my other anubias, but with this i used strips of my mom's old stockings :nilly: to hold my plant ball fertilizers. they really do a good job of "fattening up" your anubias.

with rubber bands, by the time they wear out their elasticity in the water, or even sooner, your anubias would've already anchored themselves on your driftwood, this usually takes 1 few weeks to a month, depending on your water condition and amount of light your plant receives.

makes sure that the rhizome gets enough light. trim the roots and remove damaged leaves, although this'd be a bit hard considering how slow anubias grow theirs, but this'll encourage growth.

in removing the plants, just make sure that the rhizome is intact, this is where most of the starch supply of anubias is stored. you can move them around as much as you could. with me, i just place them on driftwood and just move the wood around if i want to rearrange.

my fish in the anubias tank are 1 ornate, 1 albino sen, 2 sens and 2 dels, plus 2 big tiger oscars and a 13" long jar (which seems crazy) but the jar seems to be passive to his tankmates lol.

@stewnew: will post as soon as my tank clears up. my water supply has been turning green lately so i'm waiting for the rains to come to have a better quality of water lol (water from the faucet hasn't been great since last year's floods)

@BoCoMo & mgamer20o0: the bunch have been placed temporarily in my plant holding tank so there's a lot of duckweed and floating stuff and other plants as well. over here they just call it lumot which means moss which is wrong :nilly:
