Hey all,
Can I plant anubias directly on top of moss?
I have some moss on my driftwood and I wanted to add some anubias over top. I know anubias is pretty hardy, but will it get choked out/out competed as the moss grows over the rhizome and base of the anubias? Will the moss slow down new leaves from popping up?
Thanks

Surely I'm not the first to think leaves sticking out of the moss might look good.....

Thanks
I know that you can't bury the rhizome beneath the substrate, so I'm worried about it being smothered by the moss.
Anyone else?
I may just set up a small experiment if no one else responds.

It's worth a shot, I don't think the rhizome will get completely buried/choked out by the moss to the point where the plant would die. But then again, I've never tried doing it that way... I'd say go for it.

Thanks.
I think I'll try it out on a small scale with just a plant or two and watch it progress for a few months before I get too crazy. I got some nana for $2, so not a big loss if one or two don't make it.

Your anubias should be fine as long as it gets enough light. I often have anubias plants covered with java moss, and they keep on growing.
