some of you may remember about two weeks ago i posted because i bought an albino common pleco and the pleco in the tank was getting more aggressive. well they have settled down and seem to be buddy's now, there always together. well some of the responses i got were saying to feed more than just algae wafers, that was the first time i ever heard that plecos need more than algae. well i have tried different types of greens, cucumber, celery, kiwi, and lettuce. they dont even touch it. and i always leave it in overnight when the lights are off, and in the morning its still there untouched. any advice.

Try spinach from the can. It is easy and vegi loving plecos love it. If you get a nice can opener, the lid can be held on with a rubber band in your fridge.

Slice a zuchinni into round pieces 1/2"set a pot to boil, crush a clove of garlic in it.Toss in the zuc, leave in a min or so until it just starts to soften.let it cool then try feeding them.I freeze the extra.

i would not mind trying to boil foods for them, but my mom is what i say "an old fashion fish keeper". ive had a tank now for almost a year and she is just now letting me ditch the gravel and using sand. so i know she will be saying stuff when i start cooking food for my fish. and she wasnt to happy when i told her that my plecos needed greens in there diet.

I couldn't get one of mine to eat the other day, and I tried the Zuchini and he loved it. Although he also thought my Harem of Kribs would make a nice midnight snack last night. Dirty little Bugger

Just keep trying different things. Also the "algae" tablets aren't always algae, and some have a lot of protein in, so they will prefer that. Sometimes it takes a while to get them off the food they've come to love and onto something better. Commons eat pretty much anything though, veggie or protein, so it doesn't matter as long as it's balanced.
