I would appreciate any advice, suggestions, or comments on the tank setup of my 5gal hex tank. It houses two bettas and a ram cichlid. I originally thought it was a 10gal so I thought I could get away with it. I will make accommodations. So far the decor seemed to have made it a little more comfortable than just open water. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks. I need to get some sinking food for my fish though because I only have freeze dried bloodworms that float and with the dense ornamentation at the top they might not find the food.

It looks more red to me but it's substrate that I already had. Thanks for the reply though. When I set up a monster tank I'll be sure to make it natural to the fish it houses.

keep up on water changes.. otherwise looks good.. and keep an eye on the bettas.. my male would not tolerate a female or 2 in his tank long-term.. he lives alone in that same tank =) he just turned 3 last month iir.

I do approx 50% once a week. and its overkill with just my 1 in it so depends on how high your nitrate get by the end of the week. BVUt yeah 1 gallon every few days would also likely suffice.. I'm of the schooling.. you can never do to many water changes.
