Think it's finally over. I figured out it was a fungus outbreak and I cleaned up the algae off my sponge and it's cleared up since then. In the end I lost 1 Silverjaw minnow, 1 Redside dace, 1 Pugnose minnow, and 2 rainbow darters.

glad you got it sorted brotha.

You have stream collected rocks in there too right? I think I remember you saying you had nymphs on them from the creek haha. I know you are way better at fishkeeping than me but I say boil any rocks coming in from outside, I have a rock pile in my 20L native tank and I boiled all the nasty stuff off em, and they even retained the green algae tint without all the nasty stuff that came with it haha. just my thoughts on it, glad to hear you didn't lose the whole tank!

Thanks. I actually did boil the rocks for half an hour but the nymphs and some algae actually survived!

Soaking in diluted bleached water is super effective, cheaper, and less hassle than boiling.

true, but I hate using bleach, even diluted it makes me nervous. Boiling isnt to much of a hassle unless you are doing like 20-30 pounds of rocks ahah

I use bleach all the time for disinfecting ALL equipment. Just remember to soak in water with dechlorinator, to neutralize any remaining bleach residue, before reusing
