I recently got a new eel. I'm trying to get an ID on it and I have narrowed down to being a part of the genus Anguilla. I think i know the species but its a bit to small to de sure. so I just wanted to see what y'all think.IMG_4074.JPG IMG_4076.JPG IMG_4078.JPG

I don't think it's an Anguilla, it has no pectoral fins. I purchased 3 eel less than a month ago that were labeled as a Marbled Anguilla(spelled horribly wrong on the tank). But I'm pretty sure what I bought was a Marbled Swamp Eel, Synbranchus marmoratus.

Although now that I look at more pictures, I might have received two of the three different species of Synbranchus.

Yours might be Synbranchus lampreia, but I don't see any photos online that show the stripe down the back like yours.

I didn't even notice the lack of fins. I think you're right with some kind of swamp eel it will be interesting to see what it turns into when it gets older. what do you feed yours?

Everyone is still pretty small, so they all eat frozen blood worms. The one that I think is Synbranchus Lampreia is also eating mashed up hikari sinking carnivore pellets. The other two refuse to take it at this point though.

Should hopefully be able to get them onto frozen shrimp once they get a little bigger.

What is yours eating?

Ive had trouble getting it off live but I have had him eat crushed snails and chunks of fish. he refuses blood worms and most of the frozen foods.

Update on your synbranchus marmoratus ? I have one that is slightly smaller than these. Info on them is hard to find. Hoping you reply to this after it being posted so long ago!

I have since upped the count to 6. Two of them are pushing 2 feet now.
