I was just thinking when I build my 1000g would it be possible to house my two gars in there being as it would be so .many times larger than what they are in at the mo.
Separate tanks at the minute obviously, see Sig

This combination of an non-aggressive Aro (in my case a Silver) with FL Gar has worked in my tank. This is primarily due to the fact that the Aro is larger than the FL Gars.

(A combination of African Aro and gars has also worked out in Xander's case.)

Based on this, I would say your (22") RTG and (13") FL Gar combo has a good chance of working if you don't starve any of these fish.

Obviously, I am not an expert.. So, let's see what the experts have to say in this matter.

Good luck,

You won't know unless you mix them.. ime and what I've read from others on here. My silver and florida did not get along at all. But some people have no issues w/ the mix.. I think in such a large tank/pond Your chances of the combo working long-term are significantly higher. But I don't have experiance w/ RTG's so dunno if it's more aggressive then silvers in general or not.

Thanks for the replies guys, the big tank won't be built for another 6 months so I'd guess the gars will be around the 16" +mark then,il see how the aro reacts first to his new surroundings then put only one gar in just in case.
