So in talking to a buddy of mine, i became interested in the idea of day trading. He's started with practially nothing and is up by about $30k, just in his spare time really. Dont know much about this yet, and I'm going to start doing some research, but I wanted to get some input from more people.

Anybody here practice this? Comments? Suggestions??

The hell is a day trader. Off to google I go.
LOL

When people use the term "day trading", they mean the act of buying and selling a stock within the same day. Day traders seek to make profits by leveraging large amounts of capital to take advantage of small price movements in highly liquid stocks or indexes. Here we look at some common day trading strategies that can be used by retail traders.

SOunds like a very hit or miss was of trading stock. I can imagine your buddy does a lot of research before investing. That's an incredible profit!

i have also been doing some reading lately also. i have friends who have got me interested. let me know if you come across any good reads J.

I play with it... And that's the best advice I can give you, play with it, don't plan on making a living with it. I've made and lost a lot of money. The whole nature of following the patterns everybody else is watching is a lot like playing a hand in a worldwide poker game, it's about as surefire as a weekend at a blackjack table, if you're not an idiot you'll almost always come up ahead, but you always run the risk of losing everything you play with, so don't put anything in the market you wouldn't be comfortable seeing represented as chips at a card table, because that's exactly what the market is at the end of the day after all the BS.

If you're looking for a service to use, TD Ameritrade online has some great tools for charting your predictions.. best thing to do is set aside a few hundred bucks and see how you do after a couple of weeks. Just remember that it's all a really big poker game with millions of players and everybody's bet comes whenever they want to make it.

Yes you may/can make money trading. I do it day and night. You may lose it all, though, in the blink of an eye, if you're not careful and vigilant with your trades.....and you need the capacity to stay focused and collected through bouts of euphoria and depression during the course of your trading activities. You'll probably need to be right at least 60% of the time to remain ahead on your trades.

Try practice trades first before plunging in. Many financial sites like CNBC, Bloomberg, Yahoo Finance, The Motley Fool, among many lets you track real or imaginary portfolios for free.

Look up old news stories about uninformed day traders, they were the ones committing suicide...............not something you can just start out and plan to make money.

If it sounds too good to be true..............

thanks for the info guys, definitely have some research to do. and its not something i plan on making a living with, if i make a couple hundred bucks a month, id be happy. my buddy recommended a few books so ill have to check those out first
