Surely there are several dutch with biiig tanks!

There is even a ray guy with a tank made of containers

heya

I follow this topic, looks promising.

I come also from the Netherlands, I think there are not many Dutchmen with an aquarium of more than 3000 liters, the largest I've seen myself on a forum was 3,500 liters.
In Germany there are more people with an aquarium above 5000 liters.

I myself have two tanks of around 2300 liters each, these aquariums are in 1 system, with a capacity of 5500 liters.

Maybe you can help me i am looking fore info about enegie consumption and heat loss.
Fore example what do you have fore a heating sysem and do you keep your room temp. high?

Alvast bedankt

Pfff now i have to translate to English to a Duchman.
Yes i can, I'm no expert, but I have a little knowledge about these things.
When building my own aquarium is mainly the energy use ... the limitation of it played a major role.

I only use a heat exchanger, working on the Cv, which I myself have built this thing delivered most of the year, enough to warm.
In the summer months, I use no external heat source.
We have Malawi Cichlids, I am happy in the summer months with 23.5 to 24.5 degrees water temperature in the winter months I like to temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees.
For us the aquarium is in a room next to the living room, in the months that the CV is on (most of the year) the aquariums working as radiators for the residential environment.

I use for filtering two pond pumps 7000 liters per hour (total water displacement around 13,000 liters per hour), together accounting for 130 watts.
These pumps are very good sale purchase and also have a low enegie use.

For lighting I only use LED lamps, Im not sure but I think about a total of 70 watts used for lighting fore both aquariums.

I use for the WC flushing, water from the aquarium, fresh drinking water to the aquarium system I use to refill, it goes through a buffer, where the fresh drinking water first come on temperartuur befor i use it in the aquarium systeem, this buffer works also as a overflow for the aquariums.

Initially I had plans to heat the tank to generate through solar collectors, here iik have the necessary information obtained.
And I also know how such a system would build.
I dont do this at the moment, I use not much energie at the moment to warm the aquariums system.
I am also planning to do this in the future.

If u have any questions feel free to ask.

Sorry about the translating part I didn't realize that it was going to be that long And thorough. But thanks it is kind of what I needed to know. I think I can apply this information to my tank as well. At this point my biggest worry is the the insulation of the shed I hope is sufficient to get me through the winter without exploding My electricity bill. Thanks for the info and putting it all in writing for me.
