Can't get a vcr to record tv

satellite line in to HD sat box,HMDI on sat box to t.v..

video out on sat box to video in on vcr.

video out on vcr to video in on tv.

Can't record with HD receiver? Need to hook something up different?How do i get vcr to record tv?
