sun sun is generally considered middle of the road quality in a low priced can... you might have better luck with cascade ...or maybe not
 
I believe that Sunsun you have is the same as the Aquatop cannister I have, a CF400-UV which should be exactly the same. I had a thread about that cannister a while back and I still think it's a pretty decent filter for the price. With about 365 GPH and the ability to house bio-media and as much filter Floss as you want, it helps keep my bass tanks clean. The only thing is that the UV is kind of a gimmick. Based on some calculations another member did, it's effectiveness is probably limited to controlling algae in your tank, and not really sterilization.
