excelent someone already beat me to the link of my thread! Nicaraguensis are one of the unappreciated cichlid species, many people look at the drab juveniles and don't ever see themselves owning one but the same people who spend all their money on F1 festae for their colour and size fail to realise that not only do male Nicaraguensis get quite big (at least as big as a female festae) the female Nicaraguensis is one of if not the only CA/SA cichlid to show bright blue and yellow colours. They seem to get on well with less aggressive species like HRP and Severums but my Male can be very aggressive when he wants to be. It's more chasing and less harming though.
They like vegetable matter in their diet and from what I have researched they are the only Central or south american cichlid with non adhesive eggs (they dig a pit and gather the eggs into it and guard them)
