I had a 280g built for rays but im not financially fit at the moment so some how i ended up with a very large community tank with frontosas, clown and yoyo loaches, fire eel, large doradid cats and some colombian blue red tetras. Ending up in the opposite direction i intended to go, im very pleased. The tank is very calming after 6-7 12 hr work days per week. Not having kept a small fish community tank, im requesting help with choosing another type of tetra for the tank. Im looking for something max@ 3-4", fast and not a fin nipper. Has to be peaceful and avoid 8" frontosas

Maybe try buenos aires tetras fast, cheap and 3~4" but they can be a bit nippy IIRC. Bleeding hearts and black widows can get to about 3" and are peaceful. But really anything that size would be a snack for an adult frontosa. Something that might be better would be a small species of silver dollar like the spotted ones that only get to a max of about 5", they are called Metynnis maculatus. I'm surprised your columbian tetras are not being eaten though?

congo tetras. they are sexy especially males when mature. and max about 4" kinda schools and pretty active. and not tetra's but u might want to look into some roseline sharks. they are fast swimmers. doesnt bother other fish. they are pigs tho and eat a lot. max is like 6" but the take long to get to that size in captivity. but usually get to like 5"

Congo, Brilliant Rasboras, giant danios, emperor tetras...you could also try some rainbowfish, praecox or other dwarf sp. are nice and school hard. Roseline barbs are one of my all time favs though and with petsmart's $3.49 sale it's a must have seeing as though they usually go for about $15-20

Add Hyphessobrycon colimbianus (Columbian tetra) to the list. Mine were all 2.5" to 3" and never caused problems. I always kept in large schools, 10 or so.
