Hey guys, I just trying to figure out what light/lamp setup I should get for my 75g tank im setting up. I planning on keeping SA Chichlids in the tank, but in a small number. I want to have live plants and im leaning towards low-medium light requireing plants. I am debating between two possible light setups, one is cheap but has the 10k bulb which most say is required for plants. However the other is 3 times as much but comes with 2 bulbs, one being the 10k and the other reaching other spectrums in the freshwater range. Im just wondering if anyone could toss me some advice on deciding between the two. Thanks alot

Here are the two choices
Cheaper -> http://www.aquariumguys.com/aqualight-fluorescent-t5-fixture.html
Better -> http://www.aquariumguys.com/current-nova-extreme-freshwater48.html

thanks again!

The cheaper one is standard output, and the more expensive one is high output, hence the price difference. I have the cheaper one, and it's not the highest quality, but it's fine for my needs as I don't have any plants. If you're going to have plants, you might want to go with the HO fixture.

i think 2 54w HO T5s is good for low to med light. If you want med or more, you prolly will want 4 tubes.

bulbs need to be replaced every 6 months or so. So don't take that into consideration honestly. personally I'de lean towards the T5's myself. I got into more planted tanking this past year and am very happy w/ my t5 fixture on my 20H and plan on getting the same for my 40B. I use the Hagen system and love it.
