Gday all, my royal is being stubburn and only eating prawn atm and im hoping to get it onto pellets but am having no luck.Does anyone have any methods of doing this?

If you have any other fish in the tank, then it'll learn to eat pellets by seeing the others eat it. Just give it some time. I've never had a difficult time getting Knives onto pellets.

x2

Had the same issue with my Native fish, not being used to flakes and pellets.
Good luck!:)

 Somtimes adults are more set in their ways but they will adjust. My RCK took 4 or 5 days to begin eating pellets while my CK only took 1 day. "T"

Forgot to mention that his bout 12''.

At that size, it will take a bit longer, but don't give in. It can probably starve for 3 weeks at that size.

Il try the starve method,as its got to learn to eat pellets as its tankmates would hit prawn or live food before it would even hit the water. At least with pellets its floating around for a bit longer.Il give him 3 weeks.

I think part of the problem might be that most clown knives are too shy to come to the surface to get food and that's why they don't eat pellets. Try sinking pellets. I feed my CK sinking Tetra MicroCrabs pellets and he eats them at the mid level of the tank and some at the bottom.

My CK starved himself for about 2 weeks before he came around. It takes time but give him a chance. Also, i've found great success using Hikari Sinking Carnivore. Now i use Hikari Massivore Delight and the switch over was like nothing was different.
