As the title suggests I'm a lil stumped on what kind of plant this is, collected it from a pond near by and was wondering if it would be safe to include in my planted community tank once it's done quarentining in it's empty quarentine tank. Still not sure one what kind of plant this is tho any help would be appreciated.

In the pond were most of the leaves lying on the surface ?
If it flowers they would be white.
looks like Apongeton distachyos.
would prefer muddy bottom and cooler water I think.
high light I think too like lillys.

Yeah the leaves laid across the top of the water, no flowers atm and they seem to spread out thru their roots like jungle val. They seemed to like being at the waters edge. Any idea if they would be fish safe?

From my experience, I tried to incorporate this plant in my outdoor koi pond a few times but the fish just kept destroying it. it's a plant in my outdoor watergardening books so can't see why the fish should not be safe with it. Hardest part will be keeping the plant alive and getting it to grow in tank conditions.
it's known as water hawthorn.
it spreads from the rhizome like Lilly's do.
