we have noticed a bit of red on the edge of our motoro's disk.

waters perfect and hes eating fine

Something is irritating the Ray. Is there something sharp along the bottom? Is the heater guarded?

we've got fine sand as a substrate and the heater is in the filter

we do have a form backing on the tank but there doesn't look to be any sharp bits and no other decorations

only rays in the tank mates 1 female motoro same size 8 '' and 2 retics 3 - 4 ''

another ray could have bit the ray when they were feeding....

I would add a little bit of salt will help the slime coat.... probally from another ray....
