my 75 is starting to wear down. 6 years old. fish in it getting old and dying :( what would some of you guys do with it?
i'm open to any ideas, but am a little hesitant about it being marine (my first experiance was not quite as i expected). i really like river scaped tanks and a lot of live plants. i'm not afraid of large fish or chiclids (obviously) and have plenty of on hand filtration
the only thing is i don't think i have the money for discus, so maybe later with them.
any help is great
thanks

Howdy,

If you ask for aquascaping/plant advice, this is the right forum. If you ask for stocking ideas just let me know and I will move this thread to the General Aquaria Discussion.

In a 75 gal you could culture some nice Echinodorus  or the taller Cryptocorynes.

well it's kinda both.
if you have any stocking ideas i like and will probably keep anykind of fish
aquascaping ang plants are also part or the equation so i don't really know were this thread should go.
i just looking for some "complete setup" ideas as for anything to do with my tank. i'll probably put my oscar in it so something that would go with that would be nice.

Oscars may be tough on plants. You should consider hardier varieties, such as Anubia or Java fern. Oscar also limits your fish choices - anything much smaller will be food. So the classic "tetra tank" is ruled out - but that's okay, after all, this is /\/\onsterFishKeepers

You could also check out our photo lounge to get inspired and then ask questions on specific fish here (plant compatibility) or in the General Forum (fish compatibility). You also find loads of info in our specialized sub-forums.

Just point us in a specific direction, and we'll be able to help better.

well i know that my oscar is hard on plant, belive me i've tried even when he was little, IF i do put him in there they would be fake plants with a weight on them.
i wanted ideas for a community tank of some sorts. like i'd be fine with an awesomely planted tank with a dozen or so neons/cards in it.

i just need some ideas for a really impressive tank.

like...
pirahnas and buck tooths
small fish community various tetras/barbs/etc.
stingray and gars
brackish

just, some ideas ya know.
what would you do with it?

ha ha ha!
let yer oscar "loose" in the tank, planted or otherwise, then "drop in" a dozen or so somewhat expensive cardinals and let me know "how things have gne" after a couple weeks....!

is a matter of deciding what ya want, my friend...! to be blunt, "biggies or little ones?... in this case..!
