I am hoping to buy a 240long (8'x2'x2') from www.glasscages.com by the end of the summer. This is going to be a very expensive project so I am trying to cut down the costs in areas which I can. I am thinking of just buying two 48" double light strips from home depot and putting some nice bulbs in there. I would like to have this tank some what planted should this be enough lighting for that?

Also does anyone have any better ideas?? :screwy:

the 4 shop lights will work perfectly on something that deep. Might even be overkill, which is just about right in my book.

I used 2 shop lights & Hung them from a shelf above my Aquarium,
They hang close to the top of my SeaClear Tank, but when cleaning the tank I raise the lights for more room. Also Put a grow light and another full spectrum light in to help my plants grow. They are growing like weeds, I think I have a pic in my profile?

i use two 48" lights and a 24" light on my 180.... looks great

all i can recomend it get at least on of the purple lights... make the fish look 100% nicer

26 watt compact flourescent can lights work very well too.

i have an eight foot shop light on my 240. it was $40 and the two bulbs to go in to it were $10. i got the light with a metal hood and the hood is just the right size to hold the bulbs about and inch off of the glass tops. so you don't need to hang it

here ya go

Awesome yea I think I am just going to do the shop light thing. Where did you get a hood to fit the 48"s?
