First thing. I am trying my luck on trapping minnows. So i need some help on this one. The last 3 days i have had 1 trap out in a creek just south of town.
Day 1 = 3 minnows Used Dog Food
Day 2 = 2 minnows Used sardines
Day 3 = 4 minnows Used round crackers

Is this normal for all of you that catch your own minnows, or are these small numbers. What can a do to increase my numbers. Where to place a trap in a creek and what to use for bait.

2nd thing. I keep them in the garage, in a 55gal barrel with a fish tank aerator. My problem is the water temperature. I need to keep the water temp cooler. what is a cheep way of doing this.

Ideas Thoughts Comments please

I have good luck with bread. Put the trap in the deepest pool you can find.

I cant think of a cheap way to keep them cool in the summer

I'm not possitive, but when I go out for bait, I will chum up the water with canned catfood. You can try that, place a can or two of canned catfood in the trap with some holes poked in it to slowly release the contents.
