Any ideas on an ID ??

This fish was bought by a friend from petco and was sold as a Jack. We know it isnt but have no idea what it is. Any ideas????

looks like a female nic.
Copora nicaraguense, they may have changed the genus?

Definitely a nicaraguense, although isn't the genus Hypsophrys

to me it like a South american cichlid possibly a geo acara etc... how big is it?

Only a couple inches and is currently in a community tank with some sevs. May change pretty soon tho.

i agree on it being a nic, and yes they were re-classified in 07 to Hypsophrys nicaraguensis. gl with it.

he should do great as a community fish, if ofcourse you want to keep him there.
