sorry i havent gotten a pic, im still new to the forum and posting things arent my strong suit. but i did the unthinkable. as i walked through Walmart last night i looked at the fish, which i dont know about you guys but here the fish department isnt in the best shape.... but they had these inch, inch and a half long light brown and dark brown blotchy looking shrimp, or crayfish. as i looked closer they had little fans instead of pinchers. like a porcilien crab in saltwater. and ideas on the type, species, over all size? i will try to get a good picture, but they hide very well, i have 7 in my 20 long, intending to move them up to my 55 once it is cycled.
They were just so freaking neat looking. the guy at walmart said he didnt think they were supposed to get them.

i think that they are amanos. do they look like lil wrinkled cocktail wenies, that have been like left in the sun for a lil while?
yeah they strain the water for food and they hould be fine w/ anything that wont eat them.

can you get me a link? i searched for it on google and it didnt bring anything up. they dont look wrinkled, they are blotchy there color pattern they are very neat little critters

if that's it that what my LFS is selling as amano shrimp.

I don't think it's an amano if it has fans instead of claws. It's more likely to be a common fan shrimp: Atyopsis moluccensis.

:iagree:

googled "fan shrimp" and that same pic came up.

:headbang2 it is that one oddball.
once again your knowledge never ceases to amaze*LOL*
Thank you!
i couldnt resist getting them, i know they will help keep the tank clean.. the cleaning crew is part of the fun of building a tank too*S*
