Saw 4 Lamprologus Compressiceps at my LFS over the weekend, any one has owned 1 of this? any advice before buying? would it get along with my JD in a 75g? $15 a fair price? Thanks in advance.

well i have a pair of altolamprologus calvus.. a cousin of compss

i don't recomend putting'em together because:
-first.. the have very difrent water needs.. compss require a ph of 8 or higher and very stable..this fish can easily be shock to death if you don't provide it
-second..compss is an extremly slow grower and jack dempsy grows fast and can eat him

these fish grow to a length of 6in.. you can have'em in a 20g tank for a long time...till they grow..xD
isn't a aggressive fish..it's more of the deffencive type
the goldhead variant is one of the more colorfull variants

if you have an extra tank i really recomend you buying this fish.. is very rewarding once its adult.. and if its a litter bit grown..man buy it right now for $15 you'll save time and money..

Thanks for the response, which I haven't gotten many yet, Guess may be not everyone's favor(?), but they are great looking fish IMO. They are like 1.5 - 2 in. I also have not found much info about it on google/yahoo search.
I have a 29g tank to put them in once it is cycle, would it be ok to have 4 of them in a 29g? I did not see any agression when I watched them for 20 mins in the LFS.
I appreciate a little more input from everyone before I get them on Sunday.
I am a new member of MFK, and I have not seen a big warm response as expect yet, LOL.
Thank you all.

A 29 gallon for 4 Comps would work well for at least a year at that size. Read up info on any comps and most of it will apply to those you are asking about. and $15 is a good price.

well like eveything you should read and inform more and it's great that you recentrly enter MFK.. and sorry for not having the quickest answers but mayby you should try the african rift lake section..and the lacks of responses are due to the forum you are posting in.. i spend most of my time in the african rift lake section and by coincidense enter the general cichlid section.
to look in google try ''altolamprologus compressiceps'' instead of lamprologus
