Fishing in Wisconsin
I was reading the fishing regulations for my state and came across the burbot as an unprotected species. I'm wondering what anyone knows about them and if anyone has tried to keep them?

They seem really neat and don't get terribly big from one description that I read.

Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

Are these the same as an eelpout?
If so, they do get pretty big and they're delicious deep fried.

The young feed on small inverts and move to fish as they grow. Upper temp tolerance is only 64F so, a chiller is needed. Especially since they're normal temp range is around 40 for most of the year. Not a very active species. They're normally found under rocks in deep lakes or congregating in deep pools in rivers.
