any keyboardist out there?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hi i am not a keyboardist yet i can play one very well I am a guitarist for the most part and a bang drums and bass as well but heres the scoop by only having 61 your going to loose some octaves on the board ..how ever that does not make it a good instrument or bad for that matter...it's will be just fine if your just a beginner ...the trick it to learn first on something that you can afford and move on from there..if there if you do buy one anyone and start to learn ..and you ever want to record let me know

I'm not a keyboardist either....I'm a guitarist, but studied music in college. The number of keys on the keyboard just determines the range of it. Obviously 61 keys would be a shorter range keyboard than an 88 key one (which iirc is how many keys a full-sized piano has). The range would be how many octaves the keyboard would have from lowest note to highest note.

simply put less keys you loose either the high tones or low tones no matter what you can play any song on it

Its just more octaves. I rock out what has to be one of the cheapest casios you can get. But thats fine for me.

I have a bunch of friends in Columbia(chi) for music and I mooch of them for new tips and tricks. I agree 100% on guitar and bass being the same and I'll take that one step further. If it has strings, I will be able top play it decently in a week or two. Its a nutural curve. I started on bass, moved to guitar, back to bass, then to frettless bass, and then to double bass/cello. Its all the same. I have recently fallen in love with eastern scales, so sitar is my next venture.
