i have some baby umbees ryt now...and was wondering what kind of decor. should be in the tank for them? Do they need a cave? rocks, fake plants, bogwoods, drifwoods? also what subtrate would be best for them? Gravel or Sand? What other fishes can go in with them for short term? not long term just for a while...? And i know when adults they just basically need a bare tank....since their open water predator...

not really sure as i have never kept them, but imo every fish needs somewhere to hide. if it happens to be driftwood, rocks, clay pots whatever, the choice is yours. As far as substrate goes its also left up to you, it just depends on how much work you are willing ot put in to it. Other tankmates I would suggest something at the same level of aggression or lower just to make sure that he makes it through childhood.

Just dont go for that unatural gravel....bright blue or red....tanks always look better set up as 'biotopes' for the fish, all natural looking!!

yup i agree on that...making every kind of fish be in a natural looking biotope so that they can feel ryt at home like in their own natural habitat

A large tank with seperate territories and enough space for them to run and hide from each other.

Me personally due to there aggresion ive tried to seperate them as much as possible(seperate tanks or dividers) to prevent them from killing each other since ive already lost a couple. I only have 12 umbees now

If you run out of space or theyre fighting too much you could always sell them to me im in south city:naughty:
