Hi guys,

I have a nano 12"x7"x7" Tank on a corner table which I am considering keeping a couple of loaches in. (Botia Striata are pretty easy to get in my city.)

I had originally thought of keeping a couple of Betta Splendens in that tank (using a partition).I didn't particularly like those fish and I got rid of them.

The tank has a good internal filter (for the capacity), I also have a "sponge" filter in case of further need of biological filtration. It's currently barebottom and has a black background. I am open to adding sand if that's makes things better for the loaches.

Currently, the tank has a couple of Neon Dwarf Gourami to keep it cycled.

What do you guys think?

Cheers,

Sid

PS: Another reason for experimenting with Botia Striata is because I can get them incredibly cheap (~ 20 US Cents for a fish).

No Replies??

Is the question really that stupid?? :)

TL;DR: Can I keep Botia Striata in a 12"x7"x7" tank with excellent filtration?

I definitely wouldn't. Loaches are active fish and that is a tiny tank

:iagree:

2.5g is too small. If you had a 10, yunnanilus cruciatus might be ok. Though I would still go with a bigger tank as you could have more of them. Loaches are really social creatures and do best in decent sized groups.
