I got to Kuwait yesterday and looked around for some fish places. I went to a couple pet stores and all I could find were mollies, platys and gold fish. There must be some monster fish around here because they have a bunch of stores that specialize in feeders.

Also, any tips on a good fishing charter?

oily fishes.

There are not a lot of fresh water fish from Kuwait, though there are some BW that are also FW, About the only ones that qualify as monsters are the picnic seabream that can reach 36" and the hilsa shad at 24" max. There is supposed to be excellent fishing offshore though, if you are military contact your local USO, otherwise try the Kuwaiti tourist board for info on charters.

I went to the Navy Base out here. I caught some fish that looked like pan fish. They didn't look like fancy reef fish. I didn't have the camera. If I can make it out again I'll bring a camera.

I figure it would be better to get a charter, but none of the soldiers are allowed to leave post on day trips. The civillians don't fish but all get together to dive the reefs. I don't have a license for SCUBA, they were talking about going to Sinai but I would be stuck on the boat fishing for divers.

I was in a chow hall in Kuwait that had a large tank.. think it was 240gal... it was overloaded with a shoal of Pacus.. two breeding pair of Jags.. and some other CA/SA cichlids.. I think it was at Al Asad... but i'm sure thats not exactly what you were looking for...

I am looking for local Kuwaiti monsters. FW/BW preferably. I don't even know if there is a river or lake here. Maybe just some Oasis'

Al Asad is in Iraq. I never made it there, only as far as Rifles West (Ramadi).

According to fishbase.org Kuwait has 7 native freshwater fish.
Acanthopagrus berda Picnic seabream
Aphanius dispar dispar
Carcharhinus leucas Bull shark
Hippichthys penicillus Beady pipefish
Sillago sihama Silver sillago
Strongylura strongylura Spottail needlefish
Tenualosa ilisha Hilsa shad

One introduced.
Oreochromis aureus Blue tilapia

And a lot of saltwater. They don't have a brackish list though for some reason.
