Any mormyrid species for a 40 gallon tank?

My 40g is heavily understocked and I’m wanting to keep a mormyrid. I’ve kept elephant fish in the past but are very difficult to keep alive. Are there any species that are a bit hardier and capable of living in a 40g for life

I have heard that it’s best to use a sponge filter since vibrations and the electricity from hob filters or canisters can bother them. Might be something to watch out for. I agree with kno4te about the baby whale
