I work with a guy who has connections with a place he used to work for in Alaksa on the Alaskan pipeline doing design work. he said that the money is great, as long as you don't have any baggage it'll be easy (he had to buy a house there for his wife!) he worked ther and lived ther for 6 years. I'm debating on going up there for a few years. anyone here ever work in alaska?
p.s. i'd be on the northern tip of Alaska temps alomost always in the negative's...

Never worked their a day in my life-----

LOL-

What ya want to know about here man-
It's kinda like you say-Colder than hell and generally the Slope never see's temps above Zero....Not much to do either-Hope you can keep yourself occupied.....Money-Yeah,you'll make a ton as long as you can manage a **** load of money....Not much to spend it on around them places-So saveing is easy while one is out their-Different story when most make it back to town.....

Hope you have some good gear-Clothes,boots,gloves,socks,rain gear,-It is a very harsh inviroment up here-Most can't handle it....On top of zero degree weather be prepared for winds on top of it....

Ask any ?'s you might have man-----Comming up here-And being prepared are 2 totally different things.......And it's most certainly not as easy as your friend makes it out to be-****,everyone would be here if that was the case......

i for one would love to live and or work there. one of the most unmolested areas of our country. and cold weather works better for me. i say do it if nothing more than for the experiance and the chance to see one of the most perfect places in the world. but really its up to you if you think you can deal with the isolation and cold winters, again, i would be there in a heartbeat.

best username ever right there^^^

Ruck Fules would be next...

I hate the cold personally and alaska...Cold, i'm reminded of francis from malcolm in the middle reading this thread....

he really didn't make it sound easy dealing with the weather... he said the worst things are bieng caught in a whiteout while driving. he said it does take some getting used to, and most people aren't cut out for it bu he believes i would be able to handle it. he told me as don't go cheap on your equip & to get a good parka! cause it could save your life.
