Any one Keep an Aro in an outdoor pond?

I have two questions.

Do they jump out of ponds like they do tanks?

What to do in the winter, It gets 20 here during the winter and sum times below 0.

I want a aro really bad, I know I can keep one in a 30" wide for a while, but I wont get one until I know I have a place where he can live out the rest of his/her life after the tank is to small.

Okay so I found a post finally that says 72. So that would put outdoor pond out of the question, it would cost as much to heat as it would to buy a 4' wide tank.

I guess I need to look into maybe a garage pond, would have to be easier to heat, but I would still like to know about the jumping.

So My aro might just jump out and die? I can keep a lid on a tank, not as easy to keep a lid on a tank.

They jump at insects (large part of their diet in the wild). If the aro happens to jump near the side of the pond, ...adios aro.

Just an idea... If you were to build a pond for an Aro then why don't you put a fence around the pond and make it as high enough so the aro won't jump over the fence... Just an idea... Good luck

Just rememer if you do put up a fence... better go pretty high.... try can soar. Like seriously

Aros are like fricken birds!
so yes i would suggest a high fence, mainly because a screen would hurt the fish

I know it would be SUPER GHETTO but what about that organ construction plastic fencing stapled to the top of the pond? Its flexible so it would give a little and might not hurt as much if they jumped.
