I saw some nice 10 inch L14's and was thinking abut getting a pair... But I wanted to know if they are ray safe? I know any pleco can become a slime sucker, but i am interested to hear of any specific experience keeping the 2 together. Good or Bad.

Thanks

They are omnivores so they will most likely suck on the rays. Stick with the Panaque plecos.

I had a 10" one for about 6 months. He never bothered the rays or vice versa. It ended up dying. I think it was from starvation as the rays out competed it for food. I had a big piece of driftwood and fed algae wafers, but it was only interested in the shrimp and smelts.

I know this is the normal response, but no panaque in my acrylic tank.

Hmmm... Thats a different problem i did not anticipate. Thank you

It's to bad you lost it. They are carnivores and will definitely go for meaty foods

Hhmmm. Few years ago... My friend housed a 12 inch sunshine plec for me to sell on. He placed it in a 6x2 with two 10 inch motoros... the next morning the motors were badly shredded.. lost alot of skin.
But ... others seem to have successfully done it.
