i paid 80 for the 24'' with 2 bulbs. they are pretty good lamps and don't get too hot.

what kind of tank were you planning on keeping?
a tank full of SPS should probably get more light like a MH lamp, but you can certainly do one hell of an LPS tank or a softy.

i have two 48" with two bulbs each. i wanted to do a reef tank with reef safe fish and was wondering if this set up would work. currently i have a cascade 1200 and a Fluval 405 on it. i am fairly new to salt. i have about 70 pounds of live rock in there now. i am budgeting for a Protein skimmer i know i would need that. the tank is a 110 tall. would there be anything else i would need?

That is not waht you want for a reef tank. Minimally, you need power compacts. I bought my 1st one on Ebay. If you are planning on keeping higher-end corals, like many hard corals, brains, anemones, clams, etc, you'll have to go with T5s or metal halides.

T5s are only good with individual reflectors.

B.S. mine are running fine. my euphyllia and fungia have already seen growth in just a week. the only problem i have with them is you don't get that shimmering over the sand like you do with MH

I have a 4' x 18" x 20"h tank which I have been getting all the parts for and have read and been told by many shops that a 4' with 3 white and 1 blue artinic in same housing should do the job ok for most corals. Will be good when its up and running.
