any opinions on the eheim 2260?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well after looking further I don't think it's an eheim. I couldn't even find a brand name. It just said large canister filter model 2260. so yup if anybody knows anything about that would be great

Looks like this?? If so then it is the Eheim 2260.

Where are you looking?

I have two 2250's and I think theyre great filters. I also have two different Pro II's, and I honestly like the classic series better than the Pro II's. Priming is a little different than most of the new canisters, but easy once you do it. HTH ;)

The 2260 moves some serious water. I would suggest it be used on tanks 180-240 gallons. They are very large and have a ton of room for filter media.

yeah that's the one. I'm going to put it on my 125 at first but figure I'll use it on my 200+ when I get it. The only reason I thought it may not have been eheim is when I looked at it on Drs. Fosters and Smith it didn't say a name brand so I got confused. But yeah that's it

:iagree: I have one it takes up a lot of room and can be a bit messy on maintenance. I have my one in a fish room so not a problem. As a filter spot on have never had a problem with it from day one and I got it second hand.

There's a Chinese knock off that's around. Eheim should say Eheim. If you're buying online and question the product, just ask.

Before making the purchase, ask what media it uses and the cost for valves and things. Eheim has a website.

After checking prices, you may find a local vendor that would offer you the "package" for a competitive price. While they may not do it on just the filter, they may if it includes the media AND valves.

BTW, they work fine. They're a ***** to change. I've used multiple 2217s or 2226s as an alternate.

I would go to your LFS, if they have been established for at least 10 years they should be sending people to shows. Ask them if at their next show they can get you a deal on an eheim. My pro 3 came from a show and came filled with media for $319.99.
