Ok I ordered my Intex 10' x 30" metal frame pool today. I am planning on stocking it with Jaguar cichlids.

Has anyone had fish jump out of their pond???? With a 10' run at it, a Jag could probably catch some serious hang time.

I was thinking about starting with 10- 2" Jags. See just how big they can get in a 1000 gallons of water.

Serious grow out tank

they are jumpers when small..... i would put some netting ontop of the pond...
BTW even if its a big pond.. 10 is a lot. Not because of size but two male jags is a bad combo which means 10 is a disaster waiting to happen.. mix it up a little.. add other central american cichlids

Good point. I was thinking that the size and volume of the pond might minimize aggression

So my next idea for a stocking list would be one of each oscar,jd,jag,gt,midas, texas, cuban, etc

anyone have a good stocking list.......tried and tested????

i would do all central americans bro... since the pond is big maybe one of each species?
raise them as babys though
you could try a JAG
umbee
dovii
Red Devils
etc... DOVII and JAG HANDS DOWN THOUGH
also.. JD's
... with something that big.. some plecos too..

Yes this is going to be a heated indoor pond. I plan on using one of these heaters.

Nice start up. Have you started your pond yet?

is this a permanent set up? what are you doing for filtration? substrate? you gonna use any rocks or driftwood? any fear of tearing the liner? I added a few layers of tarp and liner to my intex just to be on the safe side.
