Any Puffers that are compatible with each other and/or other fish?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Dwarf puffers if kept of ratios of 3f/1 male or all f. Also, South American Puffers prefer to be kept in groups of other SAPs & can be kept with larger or fast-moving fish.

Have SAPs (South American Puffers) in with various catfish and kuhli loaches. They can fin nip but go for slower, long finned fish. Can't guarantee any puffer will be safe with other fish. If you are going to try, have a back up plan in case.

Yeah, puffers are an interesting group. I have had multiple members of the same species with totally opposite personalities. One of the species would be highly aggressive while the other wouldn't even think about hurting a guppy if it had the opportunity. This may simply be the personality difference between sexes… but I am not 100% sure. My only advice is that each puffer is unique. You will have to use your best judgment. And even then, you may wake up one morning and find that the puffer is bloated from the midnight massacre of his tankmates! Use caution!

About 3".

Here's a great article on them: http://www.**************.com/forum/library/puffers-in-focus/sap/

Rarely does anyone ever have the room to properly house a mbu.
