Any rays for a 125gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It depends on the dimensions. If it was really shallow like 10 inches shallow you might get away with it. You'd need lots of surface area.

i bet someon in the RAY fourm may beable to help. . . . . . shouldnt this be moved?

no i am sure its fine, but if you posted it in stingray fourm, you'd get a lot more replys:naughty:

The average teacup ray can grow to 12-18" accross. So a tank with a 5x2 footprint would be the min. I think 125's are 6ftx18"x22"?

You could have a ray for a while but later on you will need to upgrade. A 60 by 24 will be fine for small rays like the hystrix and such, but motoros will need more.

Teacup ray is a generic term that labels a number of small rays..

Reticulata, Hystrix, and Humerosa are your smallest rays, all reaching disc sizes of around 12-16".. However, that dosn't include tail length. Reticulatas get an extra long tail.

The fact you don't know the dimensions of your standard 125g would tell me that you're not ready to consider Stingrays.. The biggest battle you will face is water quality, because 125g is not alot of water volume and would require frequent massive water changes.. for a single ray.

IMO, 72x18" isn't sufficient for life for any stingray, unless you REALLY know what you are doing and have the right species.. even then, it is debatable.
