Right now I've got a 55g filtered by a Magnum 250 and an XP1. The Magnum has been acting up, and I think I'm going to look into replacing it with a bigger canister filter.

I plan on upgrading to a larger tank in the future (another year or two, most likely), so picking up a filter that can be used on a larger tank is important.

I've got $125 in Amazon gift cards to spend, and I'm willing to throw another $25-50 on top of that. I'm very happy with my XP1, so naturally I'm highly considering an XP3. However, I'm also considering an Eheim 2217.

Question is, any reason for me to consider the Eheim over the XP3, or any other filter I should consider?

Thanks

i love my xp3. has been running for at least 7 years with only a seal replacement.

XP3 is a great filter.... go for it...

I would run the XP3 for bio, and keep the Magnum for mech - since it will pull more.

Actually for a 55 though, a single XP3 should be plenty for everything I would think.

Use the Magnum and Xp1 for 2 more small tanks.
hehehe
:D

XP3 here as well, it's a good filter . . . just make sure that when you disconnect the hoses (for whatever reason) that you empty the filter first before priming it again.. lol.

Learned the hard way . . .
