Tempted to get a 48 x 24 x 20 with a magnum stand as a living room setup. I believe the price is reasonable for what it is. Did anyone purchase one of these recently?

I thought they were out of business

I have a really old 150 72x24x20 that is doing great 20 years old but then something happened to the company I thought

They had a bad spell 15 yrs or so ago. The acrylic market is really competitive nowadays so I assume they got their act together but wanted to see what others experienced recently.

Their customer service is either badly overworked or badly undertrained. Waited three days for a quote on a 120x30x30 model listed on their site. Was told they don't actually make that size and customer service wouldn't elaborate. Requested a quote on a 96x30x30 instead which took 4-5 more days. They wanted $3999, which would be a good price if not for the fact that they were only going to use a .5" thick panel when .75" is standard for a 30" high tank. So their "thicker" branding is dishonest at best. Hard pass.

They did. The third owner ran the company into the ground. The original owner was bored during covid and looked into his old company for the first time in years. He saw that the third guy turned it into a joke so he revived it and bought a bunch of fancy new equipment and a pretty nice website. He seems passionate about building it back into a good company, I'm just really turned off by the customer service and overly thin panels.

This is not "recent" business, but a rehash of some stuff that went down about the time Tenecor went out of business. At one time Tenecor was considered one of the premier tank builders. However, before they went out of business, a lot of shoddy slipshod tanks were built. Neoprodigy, MFK founder had major problems with one of his 600 gallon tanks. Here is Li's thread.

There was also a "TENECOR OUT OF BUSINESS!!!" thread, where members expressed dismay and wondered about their lifetime warrantees.

Like rats fleeing a sinking ship, it appeared that people knew their company was folding, and didn't care about the poor quality of their work since they were going out of business. Glad I didn't get a Tenecor tank.

That said, Tenecor had a fantastic gallery. I saved this picture as my dream fish room inspiration. It was actually Kentucky Seaquarium tank.

I guess I got lucky as my 150 is over 20 years old and doing great 😎

Or it was before the implosion 🤔

Implosion occurred around 2009-2011, so you have a tank with Tenecor bragging rights. I ordered my tank from FTD through an unscrupulous salesman who lied to me by omission. He was located in Arizona and gave me a quote on a Tenecor tank. When he didn't hear back from me, he called me back and said he could get the tank with discounted shipping if I agreed to a little change - namely, that the top of the tank would be fabricated out of two joined pieces of acrylic. I agreed and signed the second quote. Salesman was located in Arizona, so I assumed that FTD was in Arizona. I bragged here on MFK that I had purchased a Tenecor tank. A person from Tenecor who frequented MFK at that time wrote on my post that Tenecor did not have an order for a 15' tank. I called the salesman who confirmed that I had not purchased a Tenecor tank. When I checked the second quote, I discovered that "Tenecor" was not on the order. Turned out that the saleman had previously worked for Tenecor which is why he was located in Arizona. FTD is based in Florida. He was not with FTD very long. He was one of the rats jumping off a sinking ship. He did lie to me by omission. When I got my tank, I was horrified to discovered that the floor of the tank was two joined pieces of acrylic, which would not work because I planned on a bare floor tank. What he had written was for seamless front and side panels, so I guess I was supposed to deduce that the floor would have a seam even though I had agreed to a seam on the top. The Tenecor quote I was given was for $28,300 Sure am glad I didn't go that route as that was the period of time when people were having major issues with their new tanks. What a nightmare that would have been.
