been thinking of getting a ph monitor or combination (ph, temp...etc) monitor for my aquarium, any suggestions of where and what to buy, that is reasonable in price

get a Neptune Apex Lite unit. email notification, temp alerts as well, Yes cost a bit but sure are nice units.

This is what I use. Good price for an accurate monitor. I believe it was around $80 when I purchased it. Recalibrate every 3-6 months to ensure the readings are accurate. Just recalibrated for the first time with mine and it was still right on within .04 for the calibration fluids.

hey i like that, nice and simple, and priced pretty good. thanks!

I ran across this one... what do you guys think? Cheap chinese crap? Not worth getting? it would be nice to also have a read out of tds, and temp.

Not sure how accurate that ebay one will be. I bought mine for a number of reasons but I really wanted to accurately measure if there was much PH fluctuation before, during, and after water changes. I purchased the americanmarine unit when I saw a posting by DavidW a while back where he recommended it as an accurate unit that was relatively cheap.

This is what I use....... Picked up used for $30. Only problem is it just concludes my hunch, my PH is high, and so friggin stable I have only seen 2 numbers 8.4 & 8.5. No matter which tank, how long between water changes, source water, no matter, only varies .1

I've found that when it comes to stuff like PH, TDS, RO things, controllers,UVs all the "fancy" stuff- you can't beat looking into a more local reef club of some kind. The salt water guys rely on this stuff way more then any FW guys, so if you can find a reef society, or club, down in your neck of the woods it's a goldmine for this stuff. I've bought more stuff related to water quality "used" off greater iowa reef society then I've even remotely thought about purchasing new just cause it was so cheap. Not hard to find the good Apex units W/ DC8 for $300 or less......

Air water ice is a great source for RO related stuff if your looking to buy new. This is where I got a decent TDS meter with in and out readings for like $40. They have a pretty good selection of meters (ph, temp etc)

thanks, i will look into it.
i'm like you DB, i know mine is high, but would like to watch it to see if i am dripping enough or if i could use more drip to keep my ph stable... i just dont know how stable mine is since i dont test, and when i do i use drips that dosent tell me exact enough, and i want to be able to just look and see a number.

If your water's as hard as it is here PH won't move.

I'll keep my eye out for you. I see them for sale pretty often. Wouldn't be a big deal to snag one and ship it to you, or IF I ever end up pulling the trigger on a controller I won't need the PH monitor anymore......

I topped out any PH testing kits/strips I've ever tried, and was also my reason for getting one.

I am using my Milwaukee Co2 controller. It has been running for about 4 years now without issue. I did replace the probe once but it was cheap.
