Hi out there,

I'm rather new to this and starting to keep MF. Any recommendations on what species I can keep together in a project 20ft by 5ft, by 4ft deep? Tropical weather conditions.

As in, what fish shouldn't I keep cos maybe it'll eat every other fish?

Thinking of an Arapaima, a few Arowanas, Pacu, rays and some Marbled Gobys. Of course there'll be cichlids in there as a food source. If I add a Tiger snakehead will it eat everything up?

Please advise,
thanks in advance.

Yes, a tiger snakehead will happily eat everything else, or kill it if it cannot eat it.

the snake head will kill losts of those fish but a big pacu will hold its own against a sh

Whoa, don't keep an arapaima in a tank that is only 5 feet wide. Way too small. Also, you won't be able to set up a self sufficient biotope in a project that big, if that is what you meant by adding cichlids as food. Check out the thread about the guy who built the 50000g tank. And yeah, tiger snakeheads are no good in a tank like that.

damn, there goes my dream of Tiger Snakeheads...

what if a get a baby Arapaima?

Here's the current list:
1. Arapaima baby X 1
2. Pacu X 2
3. Arowana (various types) X 5
5. Marbled Gobys X 4
6. Peacock Bass X 2 (will it eat the rest?)
7. Giant Gouramis X 2

i wouldnt go pacu, when they get full size they eat just to much, probly the same with Arowanas, they are more eye pleasing tho. i dono personal oppion, its all up to you.

Actually,
I have kept those snakeheads when they were legal, with all sorts of tankmates, and have not had a single "kill" Guess I got lucky, despite the fact that I had approx a dozen of them during the time that I was able to have them. (Key: I raised them together with the other fish)
But, you want to know what would do well... I say, just pick what you like to look at, and get them! Just don't get anything that is TOO predatory (such as the snakehead)

Do you know of anyone who will take the arapaima once it outgrows your tank?

I'd add a big cat or 2. Some ID sharks in there would be cool.

I would do 3 large red tail cats with Florida Peacock bass as I like them more than the South American species. Or instead of the PBass go with a silver Aro group maybe 3 or 4 giant ones. Oh and ofcourse a big group of schooling fish.
