I've read quite a bit of info on here about the 2080/2180, I was just curious if anyone had any further inforamtion/reivew and or setup information on these canisters? Also, I wanted to see how well the 500w heater works and would it be substantial enough for a 270 gallon acrylic tank? Best Regards to all....

honestly its a waste of money. Yes its a great unit with all sorts of bells and whistles. Although it cost like $600. Buy two Aqua Clear 110's and a normal heater for like $100 all together and it will do the exact same job if not better then the Eheim. I have used canisters from Eheim, Rena and Fluval. I honestly don't like any of them because the flow is too low. The mechanical filtration on them suck because of the low flow. So I go ahead and spend like $300 on a canister and need to add a HOB anyways to add more flow. I swear by 110's from Aqua Clear. I would rather add 5 to a huge tank before buying another canister. IMO

Aquaclear 110's are great, but it would take about 20 or more to get the same bio activity that a Eheim 2180. But that wasn't my question, still trying to figure out how well the heater works on these....

I'm sorry, but 4-5 ac110 have about the same if not MORE BIO capacity than eheim canister filters do.

I agree, although heres the funny part. Why the hell do you need that much??? A 150 gallon needs two AC 110's, thats it. Anymore biomedia is there for no reason. On a 265 gallon I have 4 Aqua Clear 110's, heavily stocked. No ammonia, nitite or debris in water ever. Saying you have more room for uneccesary biomedia is like saying you have a toilet that is really big so you can **** a few times until you have to flush. Your gonna flush it every time regardless. A Aqua Clear will filter the tank regardless, Eheim has more biomedia for no reason.

The heater will be fine. I have tanks over 260 gallons and none have a heater that strong.
