So long story short, i have to force four tanks to cycle fast because pond goldfish have to live in them for the time being. I have used cycle, put in decs from established tankes to transfer some bacteria. Any other suggestions on keeping pond gold fish in 20 gallon tanks? There are about four per tank right now. Its a bad situation i know, but my aunts old house was abandoned by the people who bought it, and the fish were dying, so we had to go get them.

if you can centrally filter them with an old filter that will help.

Just do water changes everyday until the fish go into a new pond. Should be OK for a little while.

Can you get some Bio-Spira? It cycles tanks as soon as it hits the water. It is really the only proven product out there that does that.

Or seed the filters from media already in use. How big are they?

The two biggest fish are probably a foot long, they are in a Tupperware bin that is about three feet long and holds about 22.5 gallons of water, so they are able to swim and are doing pretty good. The other fish vary in length between eight and four inches. The other holding arrangements are a 20 gallon tall tank, a 10 gallon standard, and another Tupperware bin that holds about 20 gallons and has similar dimensions to the 20 gallon tall glass tank. All of the tanks have assorted power heads or air pumps. I think I have finally reached a new level of fish keeping. That is, I managed to put together four tanks on a minutes notice without having to buy anything new or Frankenstein off of any of my running tanks (except the decs). In a way I am proud and concerned that I have so much equipment just sitting around. Keep the ideas coming I want to keep these little guys alive and health, I will post pic’s as soon as I find my camera.

OK, bad has gone to worse, the only fancy goldfish is definately looking like he is on the way out. I am so frustrated right now. I didnt know i would have to deal with any fancy fish that are wimps so now i feel bad. Pond fish are the grossest fish I have ever come across, they totaly trashed their water in a matter of hours. And to top it all off apparently there is a water leak somewhere in the neighborhood so our water is cut off, and i smell like fish. Its going to be a long couple of weeks.

All I can suggest is 50% daily water changes and sponge filters, it sounds like your best bet is to find someone with a pond who wants them

OK, so if anyone cared... We ended up buying a 300 gallon plastic stock pond and pond canister filter. We set it up on our back porch that is covered. Its all set up and all of the fish are safe in their new home... even the fancy one that was looking ill. Its been a very long day.

Yay! that should hold em for a while, good job.
